Andreas Fux grew up as a citizen of the GDR in East Berlin. Since 1983 he has been working as a self-taught photographer. In 1988 he published his first photographic works in Das Magazin, a monthly issue in East Berlin focusing on culture and lifestyle. For Das Magazin, he provided photographic contributions from the East German punk and youth scene. Fux belongs to the scene of Prenzlauerberg photographers who documented the last decade of the GDR, the turnaround and the transition to the FRG with his works, is its most prominent representative. He also addresses the subject of nudes, physical culture and sexuality in more recent works.
