Julien Mignot was born in 1981 in Beauvais. After obtaining a master’s degree in geography, he begins his career as a photographer in the reportage where he regularly collaborates with the press. Since then, the artist devotes much of his time to his personal work. In 2020, following a residency in Clermont-Ferrand, a retrospective of his work is presented at the Hotel-Fontfreyde in Auvergne. Lately, Julien Mignot nourishes his works with a reflection around notions of line, horizon and border. The photographs in his Airline series, exhibited this year at Paris Photo, are unique pieces that question our relationship to the limits of space. Chance plays an important role in this series, whether from the point of view of the artisanal nature of the Fresson print or the random cutting of the horizon line that structures each composition.
