Sentinels

Jack Dabaghian was born in Beirut in 1961. Passionate about images and photographic practices, he has been a senior reporter, director of the Middle East photo service at Reuters and a fashion photographer for the past 30 years, working for the press and the image.
His approach draws on the history of photographic processes to create a powerful and dreamlike work. Photographic experimentation, alternative and ancient processes play a central role. Between reality and illusion, his images question the mechanisms of representation and, through them, the relationship between humanity and imagination, the tangible world and its fragility. Time, photosensitive matter, memory, living humans and non-humans, the destruction of ecosystems, the beauty and strength of light run through this new writing with ambition and sensitivity.
